Chairman TNDA, Consultant Urologist
It is with great pleasure I write this report for the 2025 Annual Magazine which will be published at the TNDA third Annual Convention in May 2025.
Tamil Nadu Doctors Association (TNDA) was launched in May 2022. It was created to support our members professionally; their families socially and to keep in touch with our home back in TN, India. There are about 5000 Doctors from Tamil Nadu working and living in the UK and Ireland. Our aspiration is to get at least 10% (i.e.500) of them on our Social Media platform-WhatsApp. We still aim to achieve that and at the moment we have around 285 members as at March 2025. This number is a 12% increase of from May 2024 so we will continue to attract more members. The Telegram platform became obsolete as it was not used at all. Many TN Medical Colleges have their own annual meetings which are popular and we are working hard through these groups to encourage more participation in TNDA.
In May 2023 we had a wonderful First Annual Convention with 130 guests and the second one was in May 2024 with 135 guests. We hope we can have more participants for 2025. At the Annual Convention 2024 we introduced Badminton and there were many keen participants. Saturday evening was entertainment galore! At first the Life Time Achievement Award to Mr KP Ramasamy of Coimbatore was presented. TNDA Fashion show brought on a new and exciting participation with individuals and couples and even a father and son walking down the red carpet. Excellent entertainment was arranged by TNDA Cultural secretaries and the Lub-Tub Orchestra kept us entertained with music and songs that stirred our memories of old.
On Sunday, we had a superb CME with excellent speakers and topics. Post-PLAB doctors and medical students had an excellent opportunity to give oral presentations or poster presentations. The events were video graphed and a 3-minute video of the highlights as well as 50 minutes one of the entire programme was circulated to our members.
The TNDA 2024 Annual magazine was released and thanks to our Editors and the publisher of the magazine for their hard work. A Post convention Newsletter was also collated and circulated by our Editor.
I travelled to Midland Cities, Birmingham and Coventry, Colchester and Leicester and met several Doctors promoting TNDA membership.
TNDA has done well with 30 members who paid Life Membership of £300 so far. Annual membership with £20 is trailing behind with only 27 of 200 members. I encourage you to become a Life member or to annual membership 2025 but better still you set up a direct debit for annual membership.
